we had gymnastics in school today, and i might have hurt my wrist...i was jumping from the uneven bars, and i fell wrong on my wrist. i just shook it off. however, the pain got more intence, i got some ice from the health center and it was okay again. however, now my wrist really hurts. it just twisted backwards, and i cant even lift up something light, such as a soda can. i cant write with a pencil because the pain hurts too much. does anyone know what might be wrong? and if its anything serious?

It could be something as simple as a strain or possibly a fracture. Can you rotate your wrist palm up to palm down? If not definately get a x-ray done.Take some Motrin(anti infflamation) and keep icing you wrist. The only way to be sure is to get a x-ray done. If you were here I could x-ray it since I'm at work. But I doubt your anywhere near my little town in Oregon, lol. Hope you feel better.

Its normal for your wrist not to hurt too much right after the accident. Im not sure why, but I read it somewhere. You most likely sprained your wrist. The question is how bad the sprain is. If you have health insurance, you should get it examined by a doctor just in case its more than a slight tear of a ligament. It should hurt the most the next morning. Thats how it was for me. I recommend icing your wristm, but no longer than about 20 min at a time, and keep it elevated and dont try to use that hand at all. If you don't go to the doctor, keep it wrapped, but not too tight with those self adhesing bandages and buy a wrist brace so that your wrist doesnt move around. Those icy hot or ben gay patches will help. What I did was to put the patch on under the bandage and then put the brace over it. Hope this helps.

The symptoms you described could be the result of a lot of injuries; however it does not necessarily sound like a simple sprain, and it could be much more serious. I strongly advise you to see a doctor as soon as possible.

Get thee to a doctor, it is sprained for sure, maybe broken. How swollen is it? There could be torn ligaments.
