I personally think we should do away with drive up windows as an issue of lazyness.

They probably will not due to the extra parking lots needed so people can wait in line at these places.

This really has nothing to do with pollution but to have line ups and having people waiting in stores or shops (would have to make them bigger too) thus using up even more energy with lightning and such.

As cars begin to burn less fuel (hybrids do not even idle, they just sit on battery power), I feel this will help the problem greatly. Simply doing away with something is not always the answer as I think you may now realize.

This sounds like the cell phone argument. Do we do away with these also as we should not be driving around with them? Of course not! They made hands free for those people who use them in their daily work.

If you refuse to use a drive up window, great. But do not impose this on others who use them as part of their busy live style. Maybe even use delivery service or the Internet (for your banking) if you feel the need to show others that there are also alternatives like I have just shown you.

Ah you are actually using more energy by turning off your car and going inside, then restarting your car, than you would by idling your engine in the drive thru..

Cars use very little gasoline when idling, but they use more when first started.

Also, your car produces more pollution when first started than it does when idling and the catalytic converter is already heated up.

Catalytic converters have a minimum operating temperature, that's why most cars idle really fast for the first 30 seconds when you first start them up and then the idle goes down.

Who ever said that the USA was serious about energy conservation? First I have heard of it, unless you are talking about the politicians that just tell people what they want to hear.

This country is about convenience, we spend tons of money to find easier ways of doing things. It isn't until people are inconvenienced, or until they can't afford it any more that will get them to change.

We're mostly ignoring the environmentalist weirdos who think that the sky is going to fall if we don't start planting trees.

Some of us even laugh at them.
