The very act of voting suggests free will. Free will gives a person the right to choose or not choose. For voting to be pure, a person has to have a choice on whether they want to vote or not. For that reason, I would say that compulsary voting should be scrapped.

I used to be of the school of thought that voting should remain compulsary. Since the 'election' (and I use this term loosely) of John Howard, I'm thinking that perhaps I was wrong. The problem is that too many people just donkey vote or refuse to be educated on how to vote (i.e. below the line vs above) and don't consider where their preferences are going. I'm convinced that this oversight has led to our current status of having a government that is systematically destroying Australia's economy, world standing and overall standard of living.

If you don't want to vote just don't put your name down.
I think it is the right of every Australian Citizen to vote
What I don't like is hearing people that don't vote and complain about the Government and they have had no input

It is not really compulsory you simply go to the polling booth
cross your name off and drop blank papers in the box.
