Have you ever kept something from a friend because you knew it would hurt them if you told them? If so, what was it and did you feel like you were a bad friend for doing this? Why or why not?

yes i kept things from various friends. often to spare their feelings. things usually worked out for the best in the end.

Yes, of course. I never told my friend that I had once been to jail for inappropriate sexual behavior, I did not tell him because he saw me one way, but seeing the skeleton in my closet may have changed the way he saw me or changed our relationship.
I valued our friendship and I wanted to maintain our friendship, so no, I do not feel bad for not telling him.
On the other hand, had he known, he may have kept me away from a certain female member of his family whom I was tempted to be inappropriate with, in that respect I do feel bad. I feel that I took advantage of our friendship.
The only reason that I would have told him is if I needed someone to talk to about it. I didn't because I already had a therapist.
I'm speaking in past tense because my friend past away 4 months ago.

Yes i kept who i liked from one of my close friends because she did like that same person and i did feel like a bad friend but that's only natural if you keep stuff from you friends

What I have kept from my best friend, is...that I secretly love her. I won't tell her either, because I don't want to lose her friendship.
She's just great to be with, and we enjoy each others company.

it depends how close u r to that friend ... and how long have u been with him/her ... how much you know him and how many things he keeps secret to u ... and how open he/she is to you
Once you get all that answer about that particular friend then you can decide whether that particular thing can be kept secret or not ... u need to know a person before you open yourself to that person.

i kept/keep things from friends, some things, not because i think it may hurt them but just because its not their business, yeah they are friends but still......not their business, even with a gf, i still keep secrets.....could be a reason i am single now but uh,....heh,

Yes. I saw something that would have broken her heart and possibly her marriage. I never said a word. That was 2 years again, and they are married to this day.

yes you have to question when you want to hurt back ....when they hurt you, and say will this improve our relationship or destroy it
