Dune. I know it can be a bit slow, but for some reason everytime it is on cable I watch it, I think he did a good job translating that complicated book into a movie. The Characters are interesting even though none of them with the exception of Paul Atredes gets all that much screen time. You kind of have to pay attention to everyone because they all play some important role in his development. If they had the computer technology they have now back when the film was made it probably would have been a little more cool special affect wise. Anyway that is my favorite, with Blue Velvet second.

Before INLAND EMPIRE came out, I always said Mulholland Dr. was my favorite film of all time - period (not just Lynch). Now, it's a toss up. IE is new and I've only seen it once, so I can't really put it in perspective, but I loved it when I saw it enough to think it could be his best. In a lot of ways, though, they're very similar movies. They both have to do with Hollywood and acting and shifting identities and "a woman in trouble."
Best scenes in MD - the diner monster scene, the discovery of the corpse in the apartment, and "Llorando."
Best scenes in IE - the "this is just like the dialogue in the script" scene, the picnic, and the part where Nicki shoots the Phantom.

Honestly, none of them, but the best ones for me are The Straight Story and to a certain extent Blue Velvet and Erasehead. This one because its dreamlike-nightmare-like quality, innovative to some extent. Velvet because it exposes very well there is not plain person or community, and Straight, cause it's a tender story very different from the rest of his movies. Lost Highway could have been a good movie --story is gloomy, mysterious, there are density and atmosphere-- but Lynch makes a dangerous turn and spoils all that was interesting.

"The elephant man" It shows how human dignity triumphs over fear, prejudice and hatred. I also liked "lost highway"(it was a little strange) and "eraser head" was flat out bizzare.
