First
Rub the left side of the chest between the armpit and the nipple until the pain subsides.
Second
Run the chest between the ribs close to the sternum( breast bone) on the same side as the sore throat at the same position transposed on the chest. As an example- if the sore throat is in the middle of the throat on the right ; rub off to the right of the sternum ( between the ribs ) 1/2 way down the breast bone.
Next
Move the whole throat back and forth 20 times
then suck on a small clove of garlic and gargle with salt water.

If you have access to Standard Process vitamins - Sucking on a Thymex and or Cataplex A C will work.

Gargle with very warm saltwater. Drink LOTS of hot tea with honey and lemon. Most importantly-- get some serious sleep. Getting a good day or night's rest will greatly improve your sore throat. Now get some sleep, oh yeah, don't drink any milk, and no spicy foods. Again, just take it easy try to relax, your body is trying to fight off any infection or virus, so just don't overwork your body right now. Try to get some sleep or at least lay down in bed for awhile. Oh yeah, wrap your neck up, with like a scarf, if you don't have a scarf, improvise, use a shirt or something, but keep any drafts off your neck...I hope you feel better, soon.

sore throats are most commonly caused by viral infections (no cure/medication used to treat) or allergies. a viral infection takes about 10-14 days to clear.

try these:

-gargle with warm salt water (2tsp of salt to 8oz water)
-drink warm tea w/honey (avoid lemons b/c the acidity will irritate your throat more)
-suck on ice/hard candies
-use a warm mist humidifier in your room while you sleep. this will help keep the air moist, preventing your throat from drying out and becoming more irritated
-take ibuprofen (if not allergic) 200-400mg every 6 hours as needed but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours

hope you feel better soon

My answer is similar to others - hot honey and lemon drink, zinc lozenges, drink lots of water, gargling with warm salt water, but....what about VITAMIN C?

Helps fight viruses ; ) So try 250-1000 mg/daily- get some tasty orange flavoured chewable ones at your local drugstore or dept store (remember to brush your teeth after them - hard on enamel).

Also keep your throat moist - suck on cough drops...and sip from a water bottle as often as you can...

If your throat is so sore that you cannot swallow your saliva and you have neck pain - go to a doctor - maybe strep throat!

you wont like this but it guarenteed to work by tomorrow. Drink straight vinagar a shot glass once an hour it will burn going down... but let it ... it only lasts a few seconds it has acid in it that eats the bacteria that is making your throat sore.. do it onec an hour untill one full day you will notice a huge diff!! If no vinagar.. straight lemon juice wil work too... ( as long as you dont immediately chase it with something) wait about 3-4 minutes before drinking something behind it. It really really really works..... really

Sleep with humidifier running in bedroom.
Vicks Non-Greasy Vapo-Rub.
Gargle with warm salt water.
It's nasty, but...chew & swallow two aspirin. It will dull the sore throat pain.
Suck on hard candy, such as peppermints.
Eat some food, & take Motrin.
Drink lots of water & juice.
Take a hot bath. Inhaling the steam soothes sore throats.

The best thing is zinc lozenges. You can find them at any drug store. They work best at the first onset of a cold or sore throat.
