It makes you feel that you are not alone in the way you are thinking, in this crazy, mixed-up world that we are living. Kind of like meeting a kindred spirit.
Fun question :o)

Its self affirming, making you feel you're on the right track, have a non- conflicting belief system, fit in with a crowd, or have a following. All of this can be a good thing, being right, and well intentioned. But be warry of the deception of self and others. Be deserving of the reasonings of others. Are they stroking you to ride on shirt-tails? Are they affirming you, or themselves? It's always easy to make a stand with a crowd behind you. But it's best when you're being backed for being right, rather than having an opinion that a group agrese with.

It's always hard to stand alone. And I suppose innately as humans we sometimes have a need to support and rely on each other.
I know that to a few Native American cultures, to be thrown out alone was a death sentence because we require each other's support for life. I would think the same to a small extent applies to ideas. Sure, the idea might survive alone for a small time. But it is much more likely to when carried on by more than one individual.

When people take ur side it means they approve of what ur saying. In their eyes ur right and the other person is wrong.
Makes things easy fro you having supporters, you know your not alone in your ideas and opinions especially if they're people close to you.
