I use a good quality anti static, anti fog lens cleaner (the same stuff i use on my glasses) and a lint free lens cleaning cloth to clean the screen, the tops of the keys, and the touch pad. I use a slightly damp cloth (water only and make sure you have squeezed all of the water out of it that you can) to clean the exterior of the laptop and compressed air to clean under the keys. I use an air compressor and turn the airflow to as low as you possibly can, this is better than the air that you get in a can although it will do if you don't have access to a compressor. This way you don't have to take apart the computer in any way. I did this to my old Toshiba laptop and it is still going and it is 9 years old and is hardly scratched.

If you are talking about the screen the best thing to use is a static free spray or gel spray which you can find at a local electronics store (it would be the same thing you would clean a lcd television or plasma television screen with), if you are talking about the keyboard and outside then the best thing to have is a anti-static spray that is designated for cleaning electronics, and if you are talking about internals a can of compressed air will clean out the inside decently although remember to hold the can of air at a distance and never keep it on one spot to long as the air can freeze components inside the laptop if it is concentrated for to long.

You can use any material really. Paper towels. "computer towlettes", towels, etc. You can use a damp cloth to wipe off the keyboard, cover of the laptop and even the keys. (just make sure that the cloth/paper towel is just damp and NOT DRIPPING) for the screen of the laptop its best to use either a computer towlette. Or i use windex. You should never spray it directly at the screen, first spray it onto material of your choosing and then wipe screen. Then wipe with a dry cloth.

you can use this site. I do this when someone gives me ancient laptops they were about to toss, then I give them to charity. I do my own once a year.
