Website design: an alternative to pop-up windows?

I am developing a website where I am showing examples of an artists sculptures.
I want to have thumbnail pictures of the sculpture and when someone clicks it becomes a larger image. I don't want to use pop-up windows as most browsers are blocking them these days.
I am looking for a solution to this problem, and would be grateful for any ideas on how to show a larger image.

I am using dreamweaver.

You can use the iframe tag. If you know how to create tables, this would allow a large image on another .html doc to show up inside a table while still on the same page.
