One factor that cause so foreigners coming to Singapore is the mistake made by the present SM Lee 20 years ago on "Two is Enough" policy. During that time, former PM Lee feel that at the rate of new born baby, Singapore population will increase too much for this small country to accomodate. The policy was to enough Singapore couple to have not more than 2 children. Today, the Government found that the birth rate is not able to cover the aging population, and the burden for the young will be more in the future. Thus, while encouraging couple to have more baby now, the Government also invite "foreign's talent" to come to Singapore.
On 2010, when Singapore population reached 5 million, maybe the Governement will implement "Two is Enough" again. And probably less foreigners will be able to come to Singapore by then.
The Government is contradicting? Maybe.

Oh brother!! Is this a common lament about the whole of the world? I hear this all over. France, England, the States, Texas, Alberta, Canada, Toronto, Montreal, East India for crying out loud!
This planet has travellers on all seven continents, it always has and it always will. Foreigners have been with every country or city state for thousands of years.
What makes you think it isn't going to be the same way in Singapore?
To tell you the truth, there are people in the Greater Toronto Area who wonder why they have to give up their jobs to foreigners? Well it's probably because the natives of the city are either too lazy to work, or too proud to stoop to some jobs, or are not educated enough to do the job required. There are jobs that have the human resources but not enough. There are jobs in every place that have requirements that have to be farmed out. And jobs that the native population just cannot fulfil.
It has been like that for ten thousand years and will be for another ten millenniums.
Singapore is no exception.
So.... .....now you know why foreigners are in Singapore taking jobs from the Singapore people. At least you have a few ideas of why this happens.

I'm Singaporean. I believe in competition. I believe if I do a great job, I don't need to worry about someone taking my job.
I am glad that it's not a case where the foreigners that come to Singapore are competiting for jobs on the basis that they're cheaper, unlike the case in other countries.
There is no reason why foreigners should come to Singapore to take over Singaporean's jobs unless Singaporeans aren't doing a good enough job in the first place.
