My landlord doesn't allow pets and my roommates are scared of them. So, I need a pet that's not smelly, small and quiet. Something that I can keep in my room. It has to be a secret! Any suggestions

Normally when landlords don't allow pets, they mean cats or dogs. Often fish are fine, and even hamsters are OK since they stay in cages and are not likely to harm an apartment, plus your landlord has little chance of even finding out about them. You will have to clean their cage, etc., so I don't know if you can totally hide it from y our roommates, but many small pets are not scary at all.

Get a pet rat, they are nothing like the wild ones and are cleaner, smarter, and don't smeel as much as mice. They don't poo in your hands either. You can teach them tricks and they will cuddle up in your arms and are so smart. You should let them out of the cage for half an hour to an hour every day so they can run around, just keep an eye on them but if you have them in your arms they generally won't escape. Read a book to find out more. Also make sure to get two they like company and of the same sex.
Hope this helps!

A ferret could be a possibility. They are not smelly if you give them bi-weekly baths like you are supposed to. They can be trained to go to the bathroom in a litter box, so if you clean it, they will not be smelly. If they are neglected, however, they can get antsy in their cage and make some noise. They do need to be exercised. In the form of a ferretball (like a hamster ball but bigger) or you can walk them on a leash. Just playing with them works fine too. They are as much of a commitment as a dog or cat, so have your mind set before you just run out and buy a living creature.

I agree that a hamster (or two for company) would be good, maybe even a dwarf rabbit might work. You could litter box train it and let it roam around your room (althought the litter box cleanings might get discovered by your landlord). Will this also be a secret from your roommates?

Hermit crabs! They are quiet, odorless, don't eat too much, and they seem to enjoy being handled. And you can let them run around your room as a treat sometimes.

a goldfish would probably work just fine. they are definitely not noisy, they don't smell (you just have to clean the aquarium every once in a while) and your landlord will definitely not know unless he comes into your place!

Guinea Pigs are tame, sweet and gentle. As long as you keep the cage clean they don't smell.

Guinea pig or rat. Rats make great, interactive pets.
