i own a repair shop and i have a lot of customers who own these, and they all seem to like them really well, they are a roomy little vehicle, and from the ones i have seen drove and worked on they all seem to be really good ones to own,i have never had to do anything major to one, they seem to hold up pretty well, but if your looking in to buying one i think it would make you a good vehicle, good luck i hope this helps.

I owned a 2002 PT Cruiser 2L 4 speed Auto(UK) I have to be honest make sure you get either the manual gear box(any age) or a NEW 2.4L with an autobox..Do not make the mistake I made and just buy a 2L auto,It had NO POWER and was very jumpy..hard work to keep at speed.. I just bought it and did not road test it.!!! ..The gearbox WAS bloody awful.. Apparently they fitted this gearbox into the Neon..(which I owned and the engine blew up!!)The PT is however a really nice car to drive, seats come out loads of space very practical..the only drawback for ME was the TURNING CIRCLE very large..I would buy another one (2.4) though....I now own a NEW 2L CVT Dodge Caliber(UK) very nice car...

We are also looking into the PT cruiser, It does not have a crappy transmission, it actually has a very geared down transmission because of the weak engine, just means, better gas mileage, so in the long run, a better buy for the price, good luck with your new baby!

I read everything before I answered! I absolutely love my PT!! Storage room in the rear (for groceries, luggage-whatever), I live in Ohio and it's been great in snow (we had a wee bit of blizzard - 6-8" of snow) the Cruiser is what got thru it, When this one is dead--I'll get another!!! Love my PT!!!

Our 2001 Limited Edition is just about perfect (although I would like it to have a tad more power!). It's an Inferno Red with the standard engine (2.0) and automatic, with A/C, P/S, PDB/ and sunroof. We love it; it's practical, economical (about 24 mpg around town with 30+ on the highway), easy to maintain (just oil change, filter and tire rotation, plus one set of brakes and new tires).
As stated, it's practical, roomy and fun to drive.

The P.T. Cruiser is a nice spacious Vehicle but it has a poor drive train. If you do get a p.t. cruiser I suggest the gt p.t. cruiser.

the pt cruiser is built on the dodge neon platform..not a good choice for a family car..youll outgrow it soon..a better choice would be the impala or malibu..(5 yr/100,000 powertrain warranty with free roadside assistance, towing, and courtesy vehicle)..has factory remote start available..free 1 yr on-star etc..check it out
