I work with a woman around 40. She's in charge of one part of our company. She's very smart, thinks very far, very organized, very analitical, & presents herself as very mature & communicative. When you meet & talk with her for the first few days, she seems ingenious in many ways. However, she rarely tells the truth, rarely gives straight answers, & is usually dishonest. After a while of working with her people realize her dishonesty. Seems more like frivilous dishonesty. She even made a point behind closed doors that she feels dishonesty is a good tool to make the company work harder.

I have a male boss in another part of the company who is very straight forward, honest, (at least much more than her) tells you exactly whats going on, & even tells the harsh truths that workers need to know. He doesn't usually hold back important information. He's not as organized, maybe not as smart, but he's more open & truthful.

Question is, is it mature to be dishonest, or more truthful?

Oh, and sorry I made you think this was my premise. I should have began the question with, "many poeple think that women are...etc etc". It's not my belief, just what I here and wondered what you all think.

The Infamous Vinnie G - I think this woman has been so corrupted by the industry that she made herself crazy. She causes her own troubles with her own dishonesty & illogical ideals about humanity in general. I wish I could help her, talk to her about it, just get her to see that she doesn't have to be this way, and that she is a likeable person. But she;s so corrupt, that it would be no use.

jean grey - First, no, she's not right because her dishonesty has pushed important poeple to leave and others to seek leaving.

2) There are other women in important positions but none in her high position.

3) Yes it's more difficult for women to get in her position. However, that doesn't mean be dishonest and play mind games since I've met people with similar difficultly who reach the same positions with honesty and good behavior.

4) The company is successful & any company would be just as or more successful led by an honest smart person. And so far, some people like working with the guy more than her.

5) I already judges her as a business person. This question is an analysis on women and maturity. And this is my example in order to learn more about the topic.

First off, you're premise is bull. Women are not more "mature" then men. Girls tend to mature faster than boys, at around the age of 13. That's as far as it goes.

Second, what you're referring to is hardly maturity. By the time a person is around 21, they're pretty much done maturing - they have become the person they were meant to be. This woman clearly has excellent presentation and organization skills. That hardly means she's smarter than the man.

I would argue that the lack of subterfuge and guile on the man's part makes him ultimately in far more control of his work space than she is of hers. Think about it - if you respect another individual, you respect the way they will react to truth and will ultimately get the best effort from them. If you have no respect for them, if you feel a person is nothing more than a tool to be used, abused, and discarded, then you have no problem lying to them. Which one is in more control?

Her's is not maturity. It's not skill. It certainly not intelligence. It's simply a self-inflated ego, nothing more.

in the context of your example...what kind of company do you work in?
you say "that she feels dishonesty is a good tool to make the company work harder."
is she right?


do you have any women in your company at her level? is it hard for women to get to the top where u work? do you even know the answer to that question?

maybe she did what she had to to do get where she is. and it worked for her so far.

of course it is wrong to lie.
is ur company successful? would it be as successful if it were led by this not as smart, not as organized but TRUTHFUL guy?


but maybe you should judge her not as a WOMAN but as a BUSINESS PERSON. since that is the only capacity u know her in.

your lady boss sounds like a corprate bussness owner and your male boss sounds like a smaller bussness owner. i think that the fact that the girl boss does not operate on an honest premis will be her down fall i think that because your guy boss is honest his employees will respect him more and he will go far. i think that maturity has nothing to do with intelligence i think that it has more to do with how that inteligence is put to work. i think that maturity is being able to say that you are wronge when you are and treating those around you with just as much respect as if they were the owner and you the employee , getting things done when they need to be and not holding them off till the last minute. the statement that you mentined above is nothing but another stereo type that like most others turned out not to be true

Unfortunately, a lot of women have been socialized from early childhood to be decietful and dishonest. Women aren't supposed to show hostility (it's "unladylike") so instead of confronting the object of their anger, they'll smile in that person's face and say nasty things about them behind their backs. Those type of women tend to be very passive agressive in their hostility - which is very unhealthy, and makes them really horrible to be around.
