On my '98 Chrysler Town and Country minivan I hear an intermittant low pitched buzzing noise in the front end when the car comes to a stop or is stopped and running. It dissapears as soon as you start driving. Any ideas?
Thanks.

You could be hearing the transmission solenoids adjusting. They make a kinda low pitched ticking that lasts about 3 to 5 seconds.

When the transmission needs to send fluid to different areas, it adjusts the solenoids and that's the sounds you may be hearing. The solenoids also make the same noise on acceleration but usually are not heard due to engine and road noise.

However, you mentioned you also hear the noise when at a stop... This could be a belt that's starting to get a bit loose, loose heat shield on the exhaust pipe or something more serious with the engine.

Have someone give it a listening to... have a read on the website below too - they have lots of bulletin boards.
