Transition. Transition is the run from the water to the bike. If you're doing a sprint and the water is above 58 you shouldn't even be wearing a wetsuit because it's simply a cumbersome waste of time. For an Oly or longer distance you might consider it depending on the water temp. I never wear a wetsuit unless the water is below 58.
The person above me says there is a changing area you go into. This is true ONLY for Iron-distance races. Otherwise you pull the suit off as you run from the water and hope to be out of it by the time you reach your bike at the rack. There's an art to fast transitions and i keep my times low by nixes the wetsuit altogether.
Good luck!

Unless your doing an ironman distance, you'll have to take care of your wetsuit by yourself. As it is a race, you'll want to save time whereever you can. Therefore, you take the top part of your wetsuit off as soone as you get out of the water. Then, when you arrive at your transition spot, you remove the bottom part of your suit. Throw the google on the ground, buccle your bike helmit and you're ready to go for the second leg of the competition.
Getting out of the water can be very disorienting. Therefore, you should practice a few times taking off your suit while running so you don't fall on your butt come the day of the competition.

Honestly, so they don't chafe and/or overheat.
Wet suits or the newly designed swimsuits are uncomfortable and hold in body heat. The ocean or lake water pulls that heat out, which is something that you don't want as lowering your core body temperature makes you sluggish, creates cramping and just flat tires you out.
So when you transition to land and air, you don't need the same thermal retention properties that a wet suit provides. Therefore you shed the suit and put on a fabric that helps you to cool off and not overheat and face deadly issues like heat stroke.
100 miles on a bike and 26 mile runs wouldn't be so fun if you were doing them in a wetsuit.

Also, to clarify the post above. A lot of the bigger triathlons have wetsuit strippers. So, as you exit the water you can get help taking your wetsuit off, otherwise you would normally just take off your wetsuit in the transition area.

there'll be bars to grasp your bike on the two via the seat or the take care of bars. you will get to set each thing up the shape you decide on it earlier the race. no longer something is secured or locked up. I even have finished approximately 20 and function by no ability had something lacking. maximum persons positioned on the comparable shorts by way of the completed race. maximum race in speedos, some in cycling shorts. in case you're doing an ironman distance then you definately could evaluate changing clothing. something much less, you need to possibly positioned on the comparable shorts. in spite of you do, do no longer bike in something which you're no longer used to using in. (chaffing isn't exciting)

there is a changing stage between swim and bikes, they go in and change as quickly as possible not to waste time because the clock does not stop...so the faster you change the less time you lose
