I have a home network, 1 pc and 2 laptops connected by linksys wireless router.

I want to configure a folder on my pc desktop so the 2 laptops are able to access the folder.. i've done the file sharing thingy that the folder now has "a hand" .. i tried to access on my laptop via the pc ip (\\192.168.1.101\) but there's always an error, "path now found" ... why??

How can i resolve this?

Pls assist... thanks a million!! :)

You're accessing the router not the pc. Here's what you should do.

1. Go to your desktop and right click my computer.
2. Select properties.
3. Go to computer name tab / click change button
4. Name your computer there / then workgroup should be selected name it anything but you have to do the same to the other computer the workgroup should be the same name for easy access to resources. Then hit ok and it should do it.

Do the same to the other computer except for the computer name you have to name it differently but workgroup must be the same. And you said you already shared it.

Now reboot both computer, once it's up again to access it.

1.Double click on my network places on your desktop, you should see the workgroup that you created there. You can now access it once you see the folder shared from your other pc.

Sounds like your laptop might not be on the network. You can find out by opening Windows Explorer (shortcut is Window button and E at same time), browse to My Network Places in left column, Entire Network, Microsoft Windows Network, WorkGroup and see if your laptop shows up.

Check the IP address of your laptop and see if it is on the same subnet (192.168.1.???) as your computer. It may be set to a fixed IP and not talking to your router. You would need to go to Network Properties and reset IP address to dynamic IP (enable DHCP).

Look at your router settings and see how many connections are allowed. Also, make sure DHCP is enabled on the router as well.
