It's obvious that sanjaya is no where near the same level as the other contestants........ so why are people voting for him???? I just don't get it. It's like watching a high school fund raiser. if you voted for him.....PLEASE tell me WHY???!!!!

Because Simon was so mean to him that the sympathy vote pushes him over the top....and teenage girls.

Sanjaya should have gone home a few weeks ago. At first, he was looking surprised when he was saved. Now he is a bit cocky and thinks he belongs there. Simon was right last week when his take was that people had their TV volume off. Yes, he is young and I guess the young girls may think he is cute, but this is a talent competition, not a beauty pageant. I think (hope) he goes home by next week so some of the other obviously talented people have a better chance.
Is it just me or is this season of Idol just boring? I find myself not watching all of the show. Tuesday I could only stand about 45 minutes of it. Maybe they need a shake up. Send Ryan packing and get someone with real personality to host the show.

The vote for the worst site didn't have anything to do with it, one not enough people visit that site and care to vote to even make a dent in the real votes, and two after checking the site out they didn't even start pushing people to vote for Sanjaya until this week (tomorrow). Don't believe me that they have absolutely no influence whatsoever? The 2 people they were urging members to vote for last week were Sundance and Antonella, two of the four that went home.
There is a growing Indian community here in the states not to mention having one of the largest overall populations in the world. It is the same reason Yao Ming gets enough votes to start the all star game when he's hurt all season. That is why no matter how bad Sanjaya is, he's going to be with us for awhile whether we like it (not sure who that would be), or not.

A good question. I've been thinking about this way too much. Could be one or a combination of the following:
1. The Gay vote.
2. Pre-teen girls (the kind that like boy bands)
3. Ethnic vote (lots of Indians in the States).
Also, as far as know 1 person can vote many times so each Sanjaya fan could be voting for him dozens of times. Maybe it's not so much the size of the fan base that counts but the intensity of the fans within that fan base.
Just a thought....
Don't get me wrong though, he seems like a hell of a nice guy, but he just can't sing. Presumably this should be an impediment in a singing competition, but evidently not.

i have no idea. the one girl i liked the most got kicked off and she was one of the best singers (no not scandal one, with the pictures) but another girl. i have no idea why sanjaya still on there, i guess he has alot of Indians voting for him. who knows, but all i know he wont defiantly be the top 3. so don't worry about it he wont make it too far.

ALL the people are so annoying that when they say that the whole indian population is voting fore him.God just give me a break.His mom his WHITE.So want does indian population got to do with it if one of hids paranting is indian.Hey im not a fan of sanjaya.but you guys need to give him a break.Hes only 17.&& he cant express his voice loundly.Well duh he's not going to win.Its so obvious.I think that evn he knows that too..But let him enjoy the time he his still on American idol.Who knows next week he's gonna go

i didn't vote for him, but here's my theory...
there is a growing Indian population in the U.S., and people like to watch someone they can relate to... so they are keeping him on.
i defintiely think he hasn't been up to par during the last few shows, but i did like his audition...who knows, maybe he'll surprise us?
