What do you think abouth Ponting's reply to Gavaskar's comments over Australia's behaviour ?

In my view, it was about the truth pinching hard . Nearly all teams havd had problems with Australia's on field verbal tactics.

The South Africans complained of racial abuse when they went there, and in fact pleaded their homw crowd to boo the Aussies when they came for return series.

NewZealander Lou Vincent went public with his feelings against Australia by saying they hunt like a pack of dogs and they think they are above the game.

India's Sachin Tendulkar has been the target of Aussies verbal volleys so often, and in the recent malaysia tri-series, ponting made some rude remarks at him after he was called back by the umpire after being initially given out.

Sri Lanka's Muralitharan and Ranatunga have had problems with Aussies.

Brian Lara too. After he reached 400, Ponting instead of congratulating him, went on to say that Lara was a selfish player in going for the record.

No doubt "Arrogant Aussies" is the right tag for your team, Mr. Ponting.

Be a good ambassador for the sports first before trying to become the best batsman.

And as for his remarks that there are not too many popular winners, you only have to look at the popular Windies of the 80s, Sachin tendulkar, Roger Federer, etc. to see the hollowness of his remarks.

So many teams you have roughed up, are now coming out in the open. Who all will you reply to Mr. Ponting ?

Add to that, Ponting and Damien Martyn's recent behaviour against Mr. Sharad Pawar in the award-giving ceremony in the Champions Trophy in India.

Remember Chris Gayle Vs. Michael Clarke in the Champions Trophy where Gayle was fined but Clrake escaped. Gayle later said that the perpetrator of the crime should be equally punished.

The administrators of the game are turning a blind eye to Aussies on field behaviour.

alrigh tguys now lets give them a break. yes they have been and possibly the best team for recent years (an this might change lol) but maybe somepeople are misreading CONFIDENCE with ARROGANCE. ofcourse they must be confident at thier stats and good runs in the past decade. so all that arrogance that u see in the australians probably about 80% would be thier confidence in themselves and abilities.

and to that comment about ponting not congratulating him after getting 400, i've never heard that before! thats disgusting if its true though.

so none of the other teams give verbal abuse to the aussies or any one else? im sure they do. possibly the reason why australia has been attack for this is becuase they are currently the top team.

and i think ti was unnessicary for Lou Vincent to say that Australia think they are above the game....if they did would they still be playing? plus aren't teams SUPPOSED to 'hunt like a pack of dogs?' not in the sense of mauling others kind of speaking but how you are suppoed to work as a team to win against another.

how about when Lee( brett) came and checked up on straus when he lend into a ball (thinking it was a bouncer)? u've named all the bad points but none of the points saying that these guys are good people. is taht fair?

well if australians are arrongant then none of the other teams should come out into public and call them names or sya they are like dogs......if they are then they are as low as they thinkthe aussies are. going public abiut something is sometimes good, but when they do it they shouldn't result to demeaning words as it demeans thier team.

ps sorry this is so long hehehehe
pps sorry for my bad typing :P

well everyone has thier own views but we must take others into acount as well. i certainly will take all of ur next time i watch and aussie game

BYE! :)

dude pressurekooker, i don tknow where u live but i do and honesty panesare was loved lol. listen back to the comentry about him that they did and they mention countless times how the crowd loves him. dnt know baout mamood though...all i know baout him is that he wrote an article about how flintoff didn't use him enough...i htink htats soft, he should have talked to flintoff about it instead of making it public oh well nothing to do about it now

Well as probably the only Aussie here i need to say something to balance this out....firstly seems you all feel that the Australian Cricket Team is arrogant. Well forgive me but did not realise that you all had the joy of experiencing them on the field...rather you are all basing your judgements on what others are saying. Did it ever occur to you that these comments are equally created for the sole purpose of unsettling or trying to make a succesful team change the way it is playing? Gavaskar is no angel himself and certainly history has shown that he is a good tactician...now who would benefit from a change of tactics? India would as they certainly would be happier to get an easier time out in the centre of the pitch when they throw their wickets away...or drop a catch...or bowl a terrible line. So lets put it all in perspective please.....while we are at it...guess the Brazillian Soccer team is arrogant for its success....LA Lakers are arrogant for their Success...there is a phrase we use for that sort of attitude when people are trying to put you down.."Tall Poppy Syndrome" it is always easier to cut down someone succeeding rather than pick yourself up....

Ponting and his team are arrogant. It is true that the Aussies are unpopular, the only fans who love them is Australians. I admit they play very well and have been the best team for some time, but that is not suppose to give them the power to be arrogant and treat their fellow cricketers with disrespect.

Take Shane Warne for example there was no need for him to dismiss South Africa as the favorites to win the world cup, but because he's not playing anymore he had to say something that's how he is. I hope the Aussies don't win this world cup maybe they will shut up for a while. I was very happy to see them defeated by England and NewZealand at least around that period they were not talking too much!!!

They are a bunch of racists. Period. And that is what Sunny Gavaskar is hinting at. It's high time Aparthied like sanctions are imposed on all australian sport. ICC could well begin with cricket. Cricket Australia knows about the moves the Asian Block is making and that is why its CEO was extremely jittery when Panesar and Mahmood were abused by crowds last Ashes.

The ban has to come for the xenophobic nation - sooner or later.

Jonty is definitely-known for his fielding skills, no person is greater effective than him. yet Ponting brings plenty on the sphere, alongside with being a groovy fielder, he outshines Jonty in evaluation surely, he's so versatile & sturdy all around contributor, which incorporates a large fielder. BQ: Brad Hodge seems to epitomizing the effective adult men ending final asserting. guy is so no longer in basic terms like the on your face Aussies and he does properly. maybe performed on the incorrect time, while the Aussie group had much greater effective batsmen than him, wearing the dishevelled eco-friendly. subsequently he ignored out on plenty. It replaced into between the main suitable outfield catches & i presumed he had ignored it. regardless of tripping he held onto the capture. As Reddog stated that a minimum of he remains pulling off the catches, Jonty is already a youthful coach..

i think you are absolutely right.aussies before doesn't show that they are world champions .they think that they are above game and noone can rech their level .they only way aussies will get some senseif they lose thier world champions attitude and are defeated by all the main teams of the world.everything that sunil gavasksr said was right and ICC too have to take some strict step against abusive language that thaey use on the field.

I totally agree. The aussies have been for ages, the most uncouth, arrogant and unsportsmanlike team in cricket. I believe that they should be severely censured for their behaviour. At least Gavaskar has the guts to say what is on the minds of most people.
I have encountered aussie people who think the same of their team too. Most respectable aussie citizens will agree that their team are no role models. I also think that the aussies should be carefully scrutinized for dope too. Remember shane warne?

Guys, dont make any linkage between Aussie behaviour and performance of Indian cricket team ...

Being the no. 1 cricket team does not entitle you to abuse other players or be arrogant to them.

And Sunil is among the most impeccable of players and the right person to Judge. The same cannot be said of Ponting who is more of a loudmouth.

there's always a flip side to every coin, and to tell you the truth the indian side isn't liked that much either all they do is whinge and cry about every one else because they have failed to have any long term success, for a country of 1 billion your cricket side has never lived up to the hype-you even employed an Aussie same as sri lanka to help you win-what does that tell you?

every one likes to bring a winner down,so we wear the tag of arrogant from other sides, remember this it was sunil who attacked and provoked ponting in the first place, and ponting is right who is sunil to judge-he is hardly full of sportsmanship himself and same goes for ranutunga how arrogant was he when he played.

HOW ARE AUSTRALIANS RACIST, PRESSURE? ,WHEN ITS ALWAY THE ASIAN COUNTRIES BAGGING US-MAYBE YOU GUYS ARE THE RACISTS YOU ALL SEEM TO HATE AUSTRALIA?

JEALOUSY IS A VICIOUS CURSE
