What was the theory behind that one? Tinky Winky, Po, Dipsy and La La I think? Bizzare, yes, but intriguing, nonetheless.

I think it had something to do with the fact that two of them had phallic symbols on their heads and two of them had female-like parts atop their heads. And their names kinded sounded suggestive as well.

The February 1999 edition of The National Liberty Journal, edited and published by the Reverend Jerry Falwell, contained an article warning parents the Teletubby "Tinky Winky" may be a gay role model and bad for children. The publication says Tinky Winky has the voice of a boy but carries a purse. It says: "He is purple the gay-pride color; and his antenna is shaped like a triangle -- the gay-pride symbol."

The Reverend Jerry Falwell, a former spokesman for America's Moral Majority, has denounced the BBC TV children's show. He says it does not provide a good role model for children because Tinky Winky is gay.

Cheerful Tinky Winky, the purple character with the triangular aerial on his head, carries a handbag - but apart from that seems much the same as his friends Laa-Laa, Dipsy and Po.

Teletubbies Theory

First of all...listing the names of the teletubbies is bizzare and not very intriguing...although the fact that you posted this question is rather intriguing. It dealt with Tinky Winky and the fact that the purple eunich carried a red purse, and was therefore gay. The only theory I can come up with is that they were British...but don't quote me on that..
