Depends on your area. In Australia, tenants have very few rights in your situation. A notice of eviction must first be served in which tenants hae a specified amount of time to leave (usually 14 - 28 days).

If the owner wants you to leave earlier, then you may come to an amicable agreement, where you may be compensated for your negotiation - ie; 2 weeks free rent.

Even if the owner sells, the new owner may want to continue having you as a tenant. Should they choose to raise the rent, then sufficient notice must be given (usually approximately 60 days).

This is not legal advice, laws vary in different jurisdictions, so if you need accurate advice, please contact a legal practitioner in your area.

It has to do with where you live. If you live in Los Angeles, under rent control, you hit the bananza. PLease put down the city you live in for legal questions. He can sell even if you have the lease though. The lease transfer to the new owner and he has to follow it too.

They have to let you stay until the end of your lease, or come up with an amicable split.
