I was a temp for a neurology department in a NY state university hospital. While I did alpha-numeric filing, I saw and heard nasty neurological tests being conducted that used electric shocks to the open brains of white mice that had had their skulls removed while still alive. I was so disturbed by their squeals of pain and grossed out by their conditions, that I quit in disgust.
