What story? The plot was so threadbare, it's as if it were written by unemployed WB teen drama writers.

Whatever semblance of plot it does have is completely subverted by the idea that this movie is based on a graphic novel--not actual historical events.

The story was based on a graphic novel written by a man who saw a movie when he was 5 and wanted to eventually write about it. The movie he saw was made in a time that was probably loosely based on historical reality.

I have no reason NOT to believe that the Battle of Thermopylae was an actual event, however, and I'll forgive the movie makers - only because of a superficial reason: I think Gerald Butler is a hottie. *grin* My husband wants to see it because he likes action movies and because it is so graphically beautiful and rough at the same time.

never heard of it.
If it is "par for the course" (like most movies) probably not.
