im a guy and i can say that men are more agressive. both women and men have there own natural instincts. however some women of course are agressive. have you ever seen a woman try to defend her children? the woman would massacre the offender. but women are more agressive in terms of gossip and emotional manipulation. men are more agressive in terms of physical violence and temperment. but its because its our animalistic instinct.
BTW: i hope that you arent trying to prove that men are less than worthy then women cause they are more agressive

I really don't know if women really avoid arguments, because for what I know, many women seem to prolong arguments and disputes. A guy might retaliate of walk away, whereas, many women will just keep on bickering until one has the last word, and it just goes on forever. Yes, men are more aggresive, but how much of that is taught from social conditoning, media, peers, etc. I take a class called violence in the workplace, and the first discussion were why so many crimes are committed by men. Well I don't want to write the big discussion I had, but here are some links to read. There is also a video called Tough Guise, which talks about how the media portrays womena and men, feminity, and masculinity through media. This was what I watched in my media and society class. The "Mask" of masculinity.

Testosterone tends to promote direct confrontation and therefore direct aggression in most mails, to whatever degree the man responds to testosterone.
Females, on the other hand, tend to manipulate situations more indirectly to avoid direct confrontation. There is probably no difference in the degree women try to obtain their goals, just in the means and "episodic" nature of it.
The problem with trying to cite literature as to "well behaved" vs. non well behaved depends on ethical or moral assumptions that are quite often interpretive and specific to a particular culture or subculture.
Additionally, many studies focusing on this matter are not performed on humans and are more likely to be found in animal behavior or sociobiology fields.
You'll probably want to go into J-Stor and use some of the following search terms:
aggression
androgen
testosterone
limbic
basal ganglia
primate
eusocial
gender asymmetry
Machiavellianism
primate ethology
and others...

Its an interesting area to read about. I would recommed an article called Men are from New York, Women are from Philadelphia, Sex and the "Notwoman" Definition of Manhood in a book called Eves Seed, Biology, the Sexes and the course of history. by Robert S McElvaine
It is a very interesting chapter and it will look into the differences in men and women biologically.

Women avoid arguments and disputes? LOL! Not in a million years.
Men are more "aggressive" and physically stronger than women, but women tend to be more "catty," argumentative, gossippy, and tend to be competitive over more trivial things (mainly against other women).
Studies show that women are more verbally aggressive and argumentative than men. Sofia (below) is a sexist and won't admit this.

It's crazy how many women agree and blame it on testosterone.
Kayrok: You know nothing about history. There was Cleopatra, the Amazon warriors, Jeanne D'Arc, etc...
SO NO maybe in general men are more aggressive but there are plenty of aggressive women and usually women backstab a lot more.

I would hv to disagree. Many women are just as aggressive as males. Some women I know, you wouldn't want to be in their path when they're angry.

I don't have a source, sorry, but all you have to do is look at history. Who has done the violence in this world? Was there a female Hitler? A female Idi Amin? A female Genghis Khan? Just take the statistics of who has been in power and what they have done. There have been women heads of state, the queens of England for instance (well, they did allow some executions, but their counselors were men), but have they been as aggressive as men? Of course not. I suppose there are some psychological studies of this, but I would have to google the situation and see what comes up . . .

Male hormones are responsible for that aggression, and yes women do tend to avoid arguments.
