You asked about activities. The Maldives is a wonderful place to escape with a lover -- so that defines your best activity in the Maldives!

Don't expect to travel to the Maldives and meet someone special -- folks arrive in couples.

So beyond the obvious, you may want to spend time next to the reefs doing some snorkel and scuba work. This is the place to see clear water of over 65 feet (20 m) deep -- wow. My trip highlight was watching giant Manta rays in the water channels at Island Hideaway in the northern part of the Maldives.

Enjoy.

There are many travel websites that can help you to plan your activities while you are in the Maldives. This website recommends the top 10 things to do on the island: http://www.hoteltravel.com/maldives/guides/top10things.htm

If you are keen on water sports, the Maldives Tourist Promotion Board website offers suggestions on the water activities you can take up, such as snorkelling & diving: http://www.visitmaldives.com.mv/Things_to_do/index.php

The Maldives Lonely Planet guide is also very comprehensive in providing information on what to do/ see and where to dine & stay in Maldives: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/destinations/asia/maldives/

I had been to Maldives twice. It is a very beautiful country make up of many tiny islands. You must like the beach, sea and sun to appreciate the place. Beside the normal snorkeling, diving, sun tanning, beach game, there are also activities like island hopping and shopping. Personally, if you really love sun, beach and sea, you will just simple enjoy sitting at the beach, enjoying the sea breeze, and no time for other activities.

Where are you staying? I've been a couple times and can't wait to go back. I have some info about the places I stayed on my site http://www.bombasticlife.com

Now to answer your question. Swimming and catching some sun are the obvious answers but you can snorkel, scuba dive, rent a boat and do a day out on the water, many resorts have water sports (jet skis, etc), do a day at the spa, book a romantic dinner in your room or on the beach. Plan on a relaxing, fun, bombastic time!

Most of the activities available are contained on the National Tourism website, which you can access via this link: http://www.tourismrankings.com/Maldives/

Apart from these, you can hotel hop and use different amenities of each one. I've given you some links to some options there.

That's pretty much it i naddition to what the good folks here have described.

Hope you have a good time
