Ok, sometimes when I have my car on and I have it parked, it makes this really loud noise, like a loud "dooooo" noise, and it'll do that off and on, and even when its parked my car will sound like its accelerating. Well it did it today while I was driving and my car just stalled in the middle of the road.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is? I plan on taking it to the shop soon, but I'm a little nervous driving it to school tomorrow.

Sounds to be a possible leaking radiator hose.Check your radiator for coolant. If low, fill with coolant, replace cap and run till the engine is at normal heating range. With hood open, look for leaks at radiator and hoses. It may have overheated and thus the noise from the pressure of the overheated coolant and the car dying because of it being overheated.I would not take the car to school. You may also want to look in the water pump area for leaks and where the top hose goes into the engine at where the thermostat is situated.Overheating can be caused by a bad water pump, low cooolant, faulty thermostat and or leaks from radiator hoses or even the radiator itself.I hope this helps you and good luck.

watch your tachometer, does the car idle erratically? updownup down? Or does it just accelerate crazily all of a sudden? What year is your car? Model and Make? Miles?
Engine size?

Sounds to me like your throttle is getting opened up by some
off the wall sensor or valve.

I am thinking your idle air control valve is faulty if it is fuel injected.

If carbeurated, I am thinking your choke may be coming on...which will accelerate your car.

It's revving really high? Check your antifreeze (radiator), oil, or your hoses that connect to the radiator.
