It seems to me that it's unnecessary since nobody in this lifetime owned slaves or was a slave. That was years ago. Wasn't it their own ancestors who sold them (and profited) to begin with?

If the NAACP wants equality within races then maybe they should stop pointing out the differences.

It doesn't make a difference to me that they apologized. We all know slavery was wrong and this is just a way for them to try and right their wrongs. And yes some Africans did sell slaves to Europeans but many were captured and sold into slavery also. And just because they were sold into slavery doesn't mean they deserved to be whipped, beaten and hanged.
** I also just read that they were appologizing for Jim Crow laws. I definetly think that they should've done that and all states who had Jim Crow laws. Many members of my family suffered through these unfair laws and I think an appolgy is overdue**

I didn't hear about this... but good for Georgia. I know it's not good to point out differences or dwell on the past, but unfortunately there are a lot of racist people who would still like there to be Jim Crow laws.... and slavery ..sadly.

I don't see what's the big deal. It doesn't cost anybody anything to issue an apology, and if it helps to ease tension, make people feel better, or help everyone put the issue behind them for good, why the hell not.

I also did not realize that they also apologized for the Jim Crow laws. They definitely should apologize for that. There are still people alive who suffered from those laws, and they deserve, at the very least, to hear an apology.

They apologized for slavery and Jim crow laws...

There are plenty of black people still alive who experienced this...

Jim crow laws were in practice until 1965... Your lack of knowledge of history astonishes me...
