I am 30. I started Chinese Dance at 13 and Ballet at 15. Then I stop Chinese Dance at 17 and begin Modern Dance. Then I started Chinese Dance again at 19 and stop both Modern and Chinese Dance at 24 and stop Ballet after Grade 8. I started Latin and Tap Dance at 24 and now I had to stop because of my new-born baby girl. Well, you see, I like dancing and had to stop now. but I don't wish to stop!

You don't really have to stop. Just take enough time off for your body to heal from the birth, then get right back into it. Make sure your Dr. OK's you getting back into an exercise routine. It will help you lose those extra baby pounds!! Trust me, I taught dance during my pregnancies and kept on dancing after their births. It is terrific exercise and will help get your body back into shape! I know many dancers that are in their 40's and 50's and still dance. It is a beautiful thing.

Maria, please don't lie and take advantage of people who have taken their time to answer your questions. Some of us have been following your questions from the start and have been encouraging you in your quest to start taking ballet lessons soon as a 15 year old. You could have just asked whether motherhood forces dancers to stop dancing instead of claiming you're 30 and a mother. I'm going to stop answering your questions now.

First of all, unless you are an actor or freestyler, you need to quit darting into all of these different styles. One or two is enough. Second of all, even if you do not compete or perform initially, once your body is healed enough, practice as much as possible, even at home. I currently take hip-hop and ballroom lessons, but as an actor need to pick up jazz and ballet as well. Do whatever you can to continue.

u can do both... last year we had a dance teacher that actually brought her kid to class... and if you cant do that im sure you could easily find a responisble teenager that needs a little bit of extra money that can help you with baby sitting while you are dancing... if you like dancing and you dont want to stop then just dont...!!!!!!

I'm a professional dancer. If you dont want to stop, then don't. I have kids and I still dance. It's what I do for a living.

Some things eventually become part of your life and come as naturally as breating does. Dont stop. If its what you love and it makes you happy then dont stop.
It would be really sad if u can and didnt while others out there wish they could.
Seems its a talent you have.......make the most of it!!!

stop long enough to take care of your new born and when she is old enough take her with you, so your dancing can be a new tradition.
