I'm a young Asian girl. I'm small. And I'm travelling to Johor Bahru alone this April.Could you please give me some advice to ensure my safety there? What should I do and don't do?
This is the first time I travel alone. I used to travel a lot, but always with some friends/family.

I travelled to JB alone many times when i was young and single. It isn't as horrifying as u imagined it to be. It's just like KL, same thing. As long as you are in public place u are safe. Taking taxi to go places is fairly cheap too. Dont worry too much. It isn't as bad as bangkok where you have to bargain on your fare all the time.

Johor Bahru is notorious for pickpockets and snatch thieves preying on single travellers.

If you're travelling by yourself, try not to act like a tourist or someone who has never been there before. Move about as though you know where you want to go. Move around in places that are crowded. If you're carrying a knapsack, carry it in front instead of on your back.

There are many touts trying to get your business and making all sorts of promises about taxis, hotels, etc. Just ignore them! Once you open your mouth, they're know that you're not a local and pester you.

They won't eat you alive, don't worry. Like I say to all the tourist coming to Malaysia, beware of snatch-thieves and pickpockets, take care of your belongings, especially if you'ra bringing a handphone or a laptop. Except for boredom you should be fine travelling alone. What you shouldn't do is giving your phone number to Malay boys, because they'll keep on disturbing you. If you're small, don't worry, so are Malaysians...

Every where can be dangerous, even your home town. As Such follow standard advice. Stick to well lighted place, best to travel in groups, drop by at the Tourism Malaysia Office etc enjoy your stay in Malaysia

wow...you are travelling alone. please be extra carefull. take lots of precautions such as, have a pen knife in you bag, pepper spray as well. Don't talk to strangers. If you travel by bus or train, don't sit next to a male passenger. Some of them 'gatal one' (cheeky). Take down the JB police station number and every now and them call your family to say that you are alright and give them the location where you are now. Becarefull. Dave would give you some nice advices too.
