Well, 1st, you have to UNinstall the drivers for your old video card. Then Shutdown your computer..

Remove old video card
INstall new video card

Restart computer
Windows should find and either install built-in drivers or ask if you have the drivers disk.

I'd suggest not letting Windows install the drivers as they are most likely OLDER than the drivers on the disc that came with your card, so click on HAVE Disc.

if using XP, it will detect and install 'generic' drivers, these would be enough to get the card running.
ok, so first you remove the old drivers and the card.
then you install new card and update drivers.
still nothing?
first, check the card is seated in the slot properly, i believe this is an AGP card and they can be a little awkward, without using TOO much pressure, gently push the card in until it locks into place.
second, check none of the pins are bent on your lead.
are you getting the boot up screens?
at one point, AGP voltage was changed, if you had an older card this probably ran on the older voltage, your new card will not. (might get this the wrong way round, but the old cards were 5.5v, new cards 3.3 volts...or something similar)
i had a similar problem, i upgraded a mobo and could not use my old card, had to get one with the newer voltage requirement.

Check your motherboard whether it supports the card you've installed or not. You would find it on its pack or at a genuine shop and remember to install the driver from provided disc and restart the computer.

I'm assuming you installe the new drivers and when you plugged it in the fan was running on the card.If not you've got a bad connection .Contact nVidia support.
