Homeopathy is a holistic medical practice. It treats the patient, not the disease. As the patient gets healthier, the disease disappears. In the words of Socrates, "Don't just treat part of the body, for the part can never be well unless the whole is well."
The German physician Samuel Hahnemann originally set forward the principles of homeopathy in a book called The Organon Of The Medical Art in 1810.
The name "homeopathy" derives from the principle "like cures like". The homeopath uses extremely small dosages of a precisely chosen medicine to stimulate the body's natural healing responses.
Hahnemann discovered that a microdose of a naturally-occurring substance, such as plant, mineral, or animal product, which produced similar symptoms as he saw in the patient's illness, would in fact stimulate the body to fight the disease.
He began the task of recording the symptomatic effects of nature's substances which produce physical reactions so he could use tiny, harmless doses to help his patients. Few therapies heal as safely, gently and completely as these homeopathic remedies.

No it was found by Dr.Samuel Hahneman of Germany his date of birth is 1755 and death is 1843. It is very popular and recognised by government of India and just like MBBS for allopathy BHMS is the doctors degree for homeopathy in India. In India due to this recognition by the government lots of colleges and hospitals have cropped and many patients have treatment through homeopathy and get themselves cured and one gets a feeling that homeopathy has originated in India.

No,Homoeopathy originated in Germany .But this system is more popular in India.
