I am an avid fan of the Anime on the Cartoon Network, so I have seen all those series.

I purchased both season of Ghost in the Machine and the Full Metal Alchemist so those are my favorites, but I have to admit Full Metal is the best Anime series I have ever seen.

So many programs are designed just for the kids and often they do it by insulting the intelligence of the older viewers. Full Metal never did that. American cartoons are unrealistic in that no one ever dies and everyone lives happily ever after. That just isn't how live really is, nor is the way that true heroic fiction works.

In Japanese Anime they don't mind showing death and blood shed. Al and Elric are still little boys, so their reaction to the violence around them is horrified, but as the series goes on Elric becomes a little jaded. In Full Metal Alchemist the characters grow, develop and learn. They are not static as they are in so many other series. You get to see the pain they have to go through and you get to share the joy of their brotherhood.

The best thing is when the series seems to be going on nicely and then suddenly a disaster happens and before you can say "pop" you are swung around and confronted with the realities of life. The series is very good about doing this.

When a major character dies I felt so depressed. And then later when his daughter said, "Mommy, why are they putting daddy in the cold ground? He has work to do and he has to wake up." That deeply moved me, as few other Anime series ever have. It showed how little children can't understand the concept of death, the love of a child for her parent and the funeral of a major character. All in a tight scene, that shows skill in the writing and development of the series.

The movie didn't end up the way I wanted it to, but then when does it ever go perfect? At least the brothers were together.

I haven't seen many drama series approach the high standards with this series. Occasionally you find a gem and FMA is one such program.

[Inuyashai is not so bad, espeically if you compare it to Shaggy and Scooby or some other drek.]

Big O is my favorite out of those. It has such a cool set up, and great music.

Trigun is a close second, I simply love the illustrations, and the depth of the characters.

Cowboy Bebop is awesome too. Wonderful storyline, entertaining, and nicely developed characters.

Blue Gender is good as well, nice character interactions.

Fullmetal Alchemist is sweet. It's a good story, as well as wonderful character interaction.
