Make yourself a schedule, breaking the project down into little steps, spread out over several days. That way, you're not rushing to do it all at the last minute

I also have this problem. It's easy to control if you set yourself targets. Buy a diary that is separate from your school diary. This new diary is for your homework.

If you have a project to do and two weeks to do it, split it into 10 days and write this in your diary. Don't just write 'do project' 10 times, as this won't give you any motivation. Also, pencil in an actual amount of time, such as two hours per night and a few hours at the weekend (if you don't mind working at the weekend).

Break it down into specific tasks, i.e. Monday - go to library and do research, Tuesday - chapters 1+2, Weds - chapters 3+4 .... etc.

It can be really difficult to motivate yourself and you will always talk yourself into believing you don't need two weeks to do something. But don't beat yourself up about what you have done in the past, nobody's perfect! Try not to let your parents get you down. If anything, work harder this time around just to prove them wrong. You *can* put a stop to it and improve things.

If you find that the TV at home is too distracting, and this is what puts you off, do your work in the local library straight after school - that way you know you can completely relax when you get home. Alternatively, work somewhere that you won't be distracted OR that you'll be motivated. If you get distracted in your bedroom, for example, try working downstairs, as the chances are you will work harder if you know your parents can see you. This will also show your parents that you want to change, and you should hear a bit of praise from them!

Lots of people do this, myself included, and they always get angry at themselves about it. Try to forget about what's been done and make a fresh start. You can do it!

xx Emmie

Are your grades good? Alot of students procrastinate. I just graduated from a prestigious university and that was my method of doing assignments. Many people work very well under pressure...but, change this method fast if your grades are affected by waiting until the last minute.
In that case, make a schedule for yourself or have a counselor or school advisor help you.

You will find it is a common problem many people have throughout their lives. You seem pretty switched on with noticing this problem. You have taken the initiative to try to find a way to solve it.

The difference between success and failure can be accredited to reaction time to actions required. You will find that the people who succeed act quickly on high priority things. They will know the difference between what is important and what is not.

My daughter was born with a heart problem. We had scheduled to have the heart operation with a hospital but we had reservations. My uncle in law came to learn of the required operation. He spoke to my wife in the morning. Through his connections he had managed to have the leading heart surgeon in Japan call my wife in the afternoon. A few days later my daughter was checked into the hospital. The conclusion ? My uncle didnt wait, he got on with what needed to be done.

Let me ask. Do you have enough time ? How do you spend your time ? Do you waste it on crap ? In other words do you spend your time more important than your homework ?
Personally I spend far too much time watching crappy television when I could be learning japanese or studying.

make a to-do list for yourself each day, or keep a daily planner and write reminders every day. for large projects, as soon as you find out about it, brainstorm ideas, and if need and possible, make a list of all the materials you may need. When you know what you're doing and have all the tools to do it, I don't think it will be as hard to get started.

You are the one that has to decide what to do. There is no easy answer.
For about 50 years you will have to work before you can retire. Make it easy on yourself and get the best education possible so you can knock 10 years off the time. You do this by doing what you have to do when you are suppose to do it.
I wish you well.....good Luck!

You should know your priority and make a list of things that needs to be done at a set deadline. then you have to work at getting the things done before the deadline.

try to treat school like a job, would you risk losing your job which pays the bills, alot of what you do in school will reflect how you will treat your future job, so think about what you are setting yourself up for later in life, good luck
