To solve a rubik's cube all you need to do is memorize a few algorithms. It has little do do with original throught or problem-solving ability, so I would say there is little correlation between IQ and the ability to solve a cube. It's just a matter of putting in the time.

Hell, I can solve an arbitrary Rubiks Cube in around 3 to 4 minutes. And it took me about 3 or 4 days to figure out how. But I certainly don't consider myself to be any kind of genius.

Now being able to look at a Rubiks cube, memorise it, and then solve it behind you back without looking............... *That* would be some kind of genius ☺

The cube is not really a good indicator.

Sure solving it in under 5 minutes could mean you have superior reasoning abilities based in spatial recognition.

Or could mean you got lucky.

You may have even practiced solving it for hours or days. (mostly directed at cube videos on the web). I used to know a kid who could beat 25 levels of PacMan in under ten minutes. Its was all pattern recognition and practice.

Well you just need to memorize some algorithm to figure it out. I just take the stickers off and place them back on...They make my head hurt.
