Why do people want to transgender? That is the correct way to word this sentence.

People who want to transgender usually have a very strong hatred or disassociation for the body they are in. They feel more spiritually connected to a body of the opposite gender.

Transgender people do not *want* to be transgender, they *consider* themselves transgender, instrinsically. They want to change themselves only in the sense that they want the outside to match the inside. They want to feel complete, and they could never feel that way staying in the body of their birth. It is basically about being born with the brain of one gender, and the outside body of the other gender. They want a body to match their mind, and for others to perceive them as how they see themselves, on an important instrinsic level.

It can get kinda complicated and there are a variety of outlooks on the issue, so I'll give mine. I've always hated pretending to be a guy and being physically male. I've always identified more as a woman than a man and, as I stated earlier, hate being physically male. I'm doing what I can to change my body and the way I present to the world so that I can be comfortable living in my own skin instead of wanting to kill myself 24/7.

It is not a case of wanting to do it but a case of having to do it. If you are not a TS it is very hard for one to explain it and for you to understand it. I was born a male but always felt that I was a female born in the wrong body. The hurt and anguish you go through when you are in this situation is indescribable. You are mentally tortured every day of your life and so many TS's commit suicide because they cant go through the surgery for one reason or another. It just isnt a case of wanting to do it and I wouldnt say it was interesting to change. It is just a fact of life and all we do is change to the gender we feel we should be.

Firstly, I think you are thinking of transexualism. Transgender is an umbrella term for a whole range of different identities which may include transexuals, non-gendered people, third-gendered. A transgender individual may have characteristics that are normally associated with a particular gender, identify elsewhere on the traditional gender continuum, or exist outside of it as "other," "agender," "intergender," or "third gender". Transgender people may also identify as bigender, or along several places on either the traditional transgender continuum, or the more encompassing continuums which have been developed in response to the significantly more detailed studies done in recent years.

Whereas transexuals are people who either believe that they are born into the wrong gender or sex and want to align their bodies to that sex and or gender (such as FTM and MTF)

Transsexualism is a condition in which a transsexual person self-identifies as a member of the gender opposite to the one assigned to them at birth.
Transsexualism often manifests itself as a dysphoria toward one's biological birth sex, as well as conflict living in one's social role.

Most transsexual men and women desire to establish a permanent social role as a member of the gender with which they identify. Many transsexual people also desire various types of medical alterations to their bodies. These physical alterations are collectively referred to as sex reassignment therapy and often include hormones and sex reassignment surgery. The entire process of switching from one physical and social gender presentation to the other is often referred to as transition, and usually takes several years.

Do you mean why people are transgender?

like the answerer above states, those who are transgender, feel that they are trapped in the wrong body (i.e. a male feels more like a female, but he feels that he is trapped in the wrong body)
