i'm about to get my bellybutton pierced and don't really know what to expect.. does anyone have any tips before i get it done?

i heard that it gets infected quickly

The pain does not come durring the procedure, its more of an after thing. The pain is not like anything else, its more of an annoying feeling. Cleaning it is nasty and depending on you body, could take a long time to heal. Mine took about 6 months to heal and my body kept rejecting the ring. I would suggest not covering the area with plastic bandages and just expose it to all the showers and baths you will take. They will tell you to cover it. use lots of polyspoine and you will be fine.
and....buy a bottle of solution at any ear piercing place, the solution is used to help heal ears after they have been peirced. that was the best advise i have ever got from someone.

I had mine done a few years ago. The worst of the pain came from the little clippers they use to pull the skin. (Does that make sense?) Mine bled quite a bit, but it was really no big deal. The only problem I had was when I took mine out when I was pregant and now I have a stretch mark where it was pierced.

i have mine pierced, had it pierced for 3 years now. the pain factor is unpredictable, some people it hurts really bad, others feel nothing. like me. i didnt even know i was pierced before the piercist said "all done."
one hint of advice: do NOT NOT NOT let them pierce you with a circular ring. it'll get move through the piercing and get banged on anything that hits your stomach. get a banana barbell. otherwise, sea salt it to keep it clean and you'll be just fine.

It doesn't hurt to get a piercing. I did have my belly button done and it did get infected easily and I tried every thing to get it to heal, after a while I gave up and took it out and let it heal.
If you decide to get it pierced, be prepared to wear comfortable clothes that won't rubb your piercings for a while, try not to bump into things and keep it very very clean. You won't be able to swim for a while either, till its healed.
I have seen many ppl who have thier belly buttons done and had no problems.
I later went and had my tongue done and I loved it.

It's not so scary. Just try to relax and the piercer will do the deed. If youre queasy, don't look. Oh, my sister passed out in the shower afterwards when she first cleaned hers. Now she is a nurse (that is much grosser to me!). We had it done together and mine is fine...never any problems in 10+ years. Just keep it clean.
