Vehicle is a 1988 GMC suburban 4x4. I have recently replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter and added a throttle body spacer.

timing chain is done, check the timing,Ill bet its the timing chain and gears esspecially if its original. I have the same thing only a pickup and it did the same thing,REMEMBER OLD CHEVYS NEVER DIE THEY JUST GO FASTER

Are you running the correct octane rating for your vehicle? A 5.7 liter is pretty healthy engine and may require more than 87 octane. Thats probably why it knocks and is losing power.

Check your cap and rotor,and if your check engine light is on have the system scanned at autozone or somewhere similiar.
