I enjoy my job, but my manager is some times impossible. She can be nice one day and then the next she is impossible. She thinks I want the job of being manager of the store. I am just covering my butt. I have problems sleeping when we have a conflick. I have tried to talk to her, but it does not work. I know my job, but she thinks I do not know how to do things.

Ick. First let me say that I am sorry that you have to deal with such a witch.
It is obvious that she is insecure in her position because of the promise that you are showing.....if you are young and intelligent, this can be VERY intimidating for HER!

there are, of course, several ways to handle this but the easiest is just to comply with the things she is asking you to do with the least amount of fanfare.
For example, if she wants to show you how to hang a painting and you already know how to do it, let her show you and then ask her if she can wait while you try it.
Ask her if you did it correctly. Even if you did it better than she did, just listen to her.
THis makes small minds feel important.

THEN
Ask her stupid questions that make her feel special.
for example....'i really value your opinion and I was wondering how YOU would handle 'x' situation
or

ask her if she agrees that 'y' should be done.
Not sure what kind of business you work in so it is hard to make up stupid questions for it without knowing but if it is (for example) a clothing business,
Dress the manniequin and ask her (dont go find her but if she is 'around' ask her) if she likes the pink scarf or the blue one.
Be sure to ask her questions that you dont give a damn one way or the other what the outcome is.....watch her face just beam when she gets to show off her talent.

If that does not work for you.
KEEP A JOURNAL>
every conflict you have should be recorded.
Day of conflict what was said (summary) and how that effected your behavior later (couldnt sleep etc)...a good arugement could be made with proper documentation that she is creating a hostile work enviornment for you and your document will make it very simple for you to transfer into another store or better yet, for her to get transfered.
either way, hang in there.

As a trainee nurse, I used to love gaining expertise of the medical strategies - innocently thinking the interest replaced into tame. yet as i'm now very final twelve months coming near qualifying, it has grow to be a misery. maybe its the admin and beaurocracy, maybe its the conceitedness of well being experts. I dont savor working all evening or consecutive 13 hour days...I hate it previous perception and can by no skill think of of doing this stupid interest for the the remainder of my existence.

I know this sounds horrible, but have you tried going to her boss about her mood swings? It sounds like she is a bit insecure and threatened by you :(

Good Luck.
