I live in Detroit and I don't know the statistics but it has to be one of the most segregated places in the country. The whites live in the suburbs, and all the blacks and hispanics live in detroit. Am I wrong is there a place more segregated then where I live??

I am in Cleveland and I heard a few years ago that we are the most segregated big city. We are very similar cities though..

We are always in competition for the poorest big city too...hmm..maybe a theres some connection between segregation and poverty....?

I live in Monroe, Michigan and its only about 40 miles south of you on I-75 ..so i concur with you as I have lived here in this area a long time.

The latinos are taking over Bagley St..and Dearborn, MI is headquarters for the most Arabs in the USA..half a million?

so what you say is right..i would rather go to Windsor...across the Detroit River. and spend my time in Canada...but what do i know?

I cant say for sure but there is legal segragation everywhere. I live in Maryland, Baltimore to be exact. Baltimore is a predominatly black area and the schools there dont hold a candle to those in the predominatly white surrounding counties and its because the state doesnt equally fund the schools.

people seem to just naturally segregate themselves. it is all over America. some may view it as sad, others may be happy about it. but its like whatever. people live where they want and where they feel the safest. i wouldnt dwell on this, it is an age old question that doesn't have an easy answer.
