any suggestion besides sandpaper my callouses off would be appreciated ^3^/

acoustic or electric guitar? with acoustic get elixir brand strings. they are more expensive than the other brands but they are good and last longer. they are coated with a polymer coating to stop scratching sounds. also pick up your fingers a little bit more. don't slide.

for electric use wax and wax your strings. they will slip more though so if you are bending be careful.

dont sand off your calluses. you'll just get the tender skin back

Well with practice you'll change without dragging your hand across the strings - the change'll be only with the fingers, rather than with the whole wrist... That'll minimise the sound... But generally everyone makes SOME noise, so that's all right in the long run...
