she complains that the front garden needs weeding and i can go outside with out her pouncing on me

Try befriending her. Old people are usually very lonely and that is what makes them so irritable in the first place. If that doesn't work, use the weed eater on her, lol.

Well you said she is old so be nice to her!
My hubby thought the same when we moved into a house & the Lady said" I hope you don't drink"!!!
Hubby was horrified but she turned out to be a dear old soul
so just say to her
"Yes there are a lot of weeds, but I'm to busy to get to work in the garden"
try to always sort of just go along with her & even give her a xmas card etc & talk to her because its better than fighting and argueing with her

you dont want to hurt her in any way. i know this is hard not to do.
what i would do sine i chew tobacco is spit in her eyes then she will quit.
have you called the law to ask for their advise?
this is a real problem especially when you get company!!
you might tell her to leave you alone or you will call the cops. if this doesnt work. do call the cops and put a restraining order on her. then if it doesnt stop you might be forced to be a little meaner towards her.
but first try to be kind and talk to her and you might ask for her help sometime and see what happens. who knows you 2 might hit it off pretty good when ever she understands you and you understand her.
so just be patient and think it all thru before you react to this hostile situation.

she's probably just a lonely old women just smile and nod or buy a big flashlight and wait til night to do the weeding

Its an old people thing to eat, it gets rid of your weeds, and its a sign of kindness. Even if she doesnt want to eat it, its pretty funny...she would have to like you after that
