democracy is a concept, and no concept ever conceived is perfect, every other political principle has fallen short with the expections of mankind...but what makes democracy embraced by most is its emphasis on freedom and rights...but right now, bush has embarassed and shame this idea of freedom.

A Democracy is two wolves and a lamb deciding on what's for dinner.
A Republic is a well armed lamb contesting the vote.

The USA is not a Democracy. It is a Republic. There are gazzilions of reasons why this country was founded as a Republic and not a Democracy.

The USA is a Republic always has been. A democracy is only about a half step above totalitarianism, which is about a half step above slavery.
