ok..i have savings acct which i made little interests and i also paid for my college using money from my savings,,i got all the required docs from the bank and school for the tax filing purpose...i asked my teacher if i need to file taxes becuz i dont work.,.she said that if i dont claim anything then i shouldnt have to file taxes...so im confused?? isnt interest from my savings some kind of income eventho its less than $100? pls help..i dont wanna violate IRS

While you technially don't, if you do, you will get back at least $30. Also, list your expenses, even if you can't claim then this year, you may be able to when you graduate.

You do not have to file but you should claim your telephone tax refund if you qualify. The link is below. You cannot claim this if you could be claimed as a dependent of anyone else on their 2006 tax return

If you're filing single and you claim yourself, then you dont have to file if your income was less than $8,450.

If someone else can claim you as a dependent, you wouldnt have to file unless your income was over $5,150.

It sounds to me as if you dont need to file tax returns for 2006.

don't listen to your dumb teacher ..everyone should file..i know a lot of teachers who give out even dumber information

yes you have to file. you may even get a return.
