i know it depends, but i mean with a small family, nice house and car ( nothing too fancy but not crap) and enough cash not to have to worry.

I think 60-75k is a pretty good income enough to support your family and a i nice enough car with some cash left over for what you want.

It depends really on how expensive your tastes are. Just add up the figures according to what you like and are willing to live with. Do you need to eat out all the time or do you like to cook? Do you eat junk or healthy? Healthy is more expensive but better for you in the long run and worth it. Do you need expensive clothes to fit your ego or can you dress nicely without the big pricey tag? How often do you want to go on vacations and to where? Think about all these things and add them up.
