I thought I wanted to be married, but I'm close to 24 now and not even close to being ready for the commitment. I don't want to give up my freedom. How old were you when you married (if you're married).

if you think you've found Mr. Right, then go for it. until then, keep living the single life. dont rush into it, but dont wait too long either. you'll know it when the times right.

a little story to keep you thinking...

my friend, Laura, her parents were married when her mother was only 16 and the dad was 36. yep thats right, a whole 20yrs diff and she was still at school. anyway, they are still happyily married.

the end.

I was 18 and my first marriage was really bad and destructive and ended in tragedy and sadness.... Wait until you are ready for marriage before marrying and make sure it is the right one for you and your life and you will be much happier for it. Good luck to you. I can honestly say that now that i am married to my wonderful husband that i do not regret this and i married my new husband now about eight years ago and i do not regret it and we have a great and happy marriage. He is the right one for me and my life. This marriage i was ready for and i am totally commited and would not have it any other way. I have learned from my past mistakes and now live life totally different then what i used to. Sometimes you have to live and learn.

I was 33 when I got married. Before you begin to answer that question, you need to ask yourself if you are ready to settle down. The comment about not wanting to give up your freedom says to me that you are not ready yet. Another thing you need to take into consideration is the chemestry you have with your future partner. Are you both mature enough for the responsibility? Do either/both of you have careers that you can support eachother with?

I knew I was ready in Oct 99, I was 22. I remember talking to my best friend's mother. We were at a Chinese restaurant and were talking about life's paths and goals, and I said, "I'm ready to get married. I just haven't found the right guy yet." It was only after I had said the words that I realized they were true. By that following April I was married.

Almost 7 years later now, we are happy.

27 - I was married at 28, almost 18 years ago. Had nothing to do with giving up freedom (because marriage brings more freedom than you can imagine!), but finding the right man.

my fiance and i just got engaged, and i'm 20. i'm totally ready for the commitment, but we both also know that we need to finish school first. i would Love to get married now. almost wish we could, but it's a money and school issue, so the wedding isn't going to be until then.

it really is a maturity issue rather than an age thing. my best friend just got married, and she's only 18.

27. When I was 16, some fortune teller told me I was to get married at 23 and have 3 sons. Yet I'm still single. I'm looking forward to a marriage, though. I don't wanna be too old for my kids.
