The actress who was drowned was Glen Close. The actor who drowned her at the very end of the movie was Micheal Douglas. And you are right, it was creepy!

It was Michael Douglas (characters name Dan Gallagher) that drowned Glen Close (characters name Alex Forrest) in Fatal Attraction.

It was Michael Douglas who drowned Glen Close and yes it was creepy. BUT, I thought it was just as creepy when she butchered and put the little kids rabbit in the pot. She was such a psycho. I'm sure that movie made a lot of men think twice before they committed adultry.

Yes. The director, Adrian Lyne, has often been referred to as mysogynistic for his portrayal of women as either sex objects or agents of destruction. There was an alternate ending to the film, which is as follows, from DVD Journal:
"Original, bleaker ending in which Alex kills herself, framing Dan for her murder. If it weren't for the convenient discovery of evidence supposedly exonerating Dan of the crime, this ending would have been even more condemning of his poor behavior. With a chilling, almost unintentionally funny, shot of Close slashing her own throat."
