I guess it also depends on how you were raised. If you were raised having such material things easily accessible then I guess you will sit here and say of course, i love them all...even the other brand like D&G, LV, RL, Chanel...the list goes on. But if you were raised to be practical and only have the necessities in life then maybe going to Target or such will do you just fine. It amazes me everyday to hear ppl talk(I work at an Aveda Salon) about name brands and what they bought and how much it cost and so forth...yet, half the time, the money that bought those things belonged to mom&dad, or their husband/wife, or it was a credit card-not even money they had to begin with....and then oddly enough the electric bill or mortgage bill or car note came in the mail and those same ppl all of a sudden dont have money to pay those "important bills."
Dont get me wrong, I work with ppl who thrive off of wearing nothing but name brands. Its a personal thing I've learned. I have woman who come in wearing $300 pair of jeans they will only wear once a month, driving $75,000 Lexus' or BMW's or SUV's...and have a FIT when I tell them it will cost them $165 to get their highlights&all-over color done!(Now mind you---DONT YOU WEAR YOUR HAIR EVERYDAY OF YOUR LIFE???)So I get tickled pink when $165 is too much money to spend on something you will wear for 6weeks straight....yet a pair of $300 name brand jeans once a month is inconceivable?????
Now my opinion on the quality of those you mentioned...Coach-great quality....A&F and Hollister...I cant say too much. I've had many friends who have bought stuff from there and cant say their items last through two seasons.
I was a Fashion Merchandising major at LSU-and learned great clothing lines will last you a life time. So just be careful what you will pay for in the end. If you have the money to just throw away and think there isnt a much needier cause in your life to spend it on, sure go ahead and get those jeans...otherwise, I'd save it for more important necessary things in life. You might end up needing the $300 for maybe that speeding ticket some crazy cop decided to give you or getting your car out the impound cause some crazy ex wanted to get even with you for thinking you "stole" her boyfriend(I've heard all the stories!) or just getting your rent out of the way this month before you forgot about it...
****For what its worth, Im sorry if I didnt give you an answer you really wanted to hear or liked. But its what I hear at my job everyday and it blows my mind away on what little ppl really think is important these days.
I hope someone gives you something you want to hear and read;-)

Well, in most cases you get what you pay for, so when you drop the extra cash for a designer item, you're paying for the style, originality, fit, and quality of whatever it is you're buying, whether it's jeans or a shirt or a bag. I find that for A&F and Hollister, the rule doesn't seem to apply, because their clothes are lower quality than most other stores in the mall. Every article of clothing I've bought from those stores has fallen apart. Anyway, A&F and Hollister aren't really even considered "designer" by most fashion-conscious people.

If you have the money, then go ahead and treat yourself to the "nicer things" in life, like a 3.1 Philip Lim dress or a Chanel purse or a Marc Jacobs shirt or a pair of True Religions. Most people can't afford to spend like that on a regular basis, but once in a while something expensive is nice.

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at but if you're getting at whether or not you should indulge in an expensive fashion item(s) go for it!

Coach makes great purses and luggage. I have two duffels from them and they're amazing. I love them.

A&F, AE, and Hollister suck. Don't buy stuff from them.

Stick with higher end such as Dolce and Gabbana, Burberry, Chanel (love Chanel)... Or stick to higher end department stores.. Nordstrom, Nieman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Jacobsons

I think its good to go ahead and buy one expensive thing once in a while to indulge yourself. Especially if you work hard and are stressed. Just take a day and go out on a shopping spree. I have never bought from any of those stores but I have looked in on Prada accessories like this backpack thats $100 its B E A utiful lol I think I would buy it the next time I feel I deserve something for hard work. For me its not the brand or price its the item itself. If I like then I'll want to get it the price may or may not stop me, it has to be reasonable.

Well I love fasion and I love name brands. BUT I got a fake coach purse for 40 bucks and its regularly like 280 and u cant even tell its fake at all so dont be ashamed if its fake lol. And there is a place called platos closet that sells only name brands and they have like hollister jeans for 12 dollars and you should see if there is one near you, even if they are previuosly worn all yah have to do is wash it lol.

It kinda depends on who you ask. Some people swear by the most expensive name brands but not me.I am afraid of getting them dirty and stuff like that.I beleive that its okay top have a couple pairs of jeans and shirts from expensive name brands just to mix up ur style but not ur whole wardrobe.

Talk about low class.
Try these Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana just to name a few.
