History? perhaps you have the wrong area?

I have seen the statues in France and Belgium and Holland:
each of their countrymen, mostly I saw tributes to Americans killed, lost in WWI and WWII.

Did you know that the French people, now generations of folks still visit each grave of an American? Place flowers, ensure that all is well kept?

Do you know that when I wore my 101st Airborne patch in France that many -mostly old- people wanted to shake my hand, buy me a coffee or wine?

But yes, there are statues of many French killed by the nazi's,
usually for aiding an allied flyer or soldier and such.

How about Joan of Arc in Orleans? She raised the siege of that city and inspired the French populace.
