We are thinking about moving out of state but we are waiting for our house to sell. A company has offered me a position but I have to go to the new state in order to work. I'm sure other people have done this. What are the pros and cons. I would have to work out a schedule to come back at least once a month for a visit. I have 2 kids which are 2 & 6 yrs old. Would it be wrong to ask the company to pay for these visits?

i suppose this is a promotion from work. this is a great opportunity to grab more so if its financially compensating. why not talk with your wife and ask of her opinion too. after all, she will be the one to be left the moment you decide to go for it. its a big sacrifice to be away from your family. you cant take away the possibilities of meeting some temptations that would test your fidelity. this holds true to both the spouses. lets face it, most broken families came from those who're geographically separated due to the other have to work to other place for greener pasture.well, this could be no problem i suppose for the both of you. trust is very important here. with regards to the travel package you're asking, i guess you have to be very careful in asking. you know the company might get dispappointed. well, maybe you can read the contract. it is stated there i suppose all the benefits you're getting just in case you go for it. lastly, pray to God and ask for guidance.. HE knows whats best for you adn your family. Good Luck! May God bless us all!

You can always ask if compensation is available for the travel , but just asking for it to be would seem pushy. Inquire if it is available.
Given the housing market , it could be a long time before the family joined you and could be very stressful for your wife , trying to care for 2 babies by herself.
It might be better to plan on you being there a month to secure new housing, then if the old one does not sell , try for a deed in lieu of foreclosure.
Too long apart is not good , many military families break up over it.

I would do it. I have a family and personally if it was for best in the long run then I would go. Also, I wouldn't ask the company to pay for it because for one, they probably won't and if you rub your boss the wrong way with the question then it could jeopardize your career later on. So, if you are making that big of a commitment to move, I wouldn't risk anything by asking them to pay for my personal stuff.

Why not take yr family with you but first ask yr new employer if they are willing to pay for your family`s travel expenses for moving to where you are working if you can afford a house or apartment so that you will be with yr family.
It will cost u a great deal to travel home to see yr family every month or so.
No, I don`t think yr employer will agree to yr idea. If they value yr service they might consider giving you a house or apartment for you and family if you talk to them about yr problem.Hope this helps.
Good Luck

I think asking the company to cover the return visits is pushing it.
