Did he know you were there?
It's odd that he would give so much money, but the flowers thing seems alright to me.
Why don't you ask your wife what the gift was for?

Where I'm from giving flowers and money at the birth of a new born baby is highly respectful, especially coming from the boss. It shows appreciation as well as welcoming the baby. The hundred dollars is usually the amount that is given for the baby to have a bank account. Very rarely is this a threat on someones relationship except if you have experienced something leading to the way that you are thinking. If this is the case ask a question. Nine of the ten you will discover it is just a matter of respect and tradition to give money and flowers at a new birth. Red in some cultures represent "respect" instead of love. Be careful of what you are thinking, ask first and enjoy. Don't forget to reciprocate with a thank you card.

Why are you thinking like that? Do you have reason to be suspicious? This suspicion did not come out of nowhere. Do you think she had an affair and the baby is not yours? Has she ever given you reason to think that way?

I think her boss was just being nice and the $100 was a baby gift. The roses are to congratulate her on the birth of the baby. Stop being so suspicious and enjoy your new baby.

First of all, yes, you were rude. You should have come out and greeted the man. Assume the best, that the employer wanted to give your wife a gift to congratulate her on the birth of your new child. Be the man (and gentleman) of the house and come out and be civil. Show some class here, you don't know that there is anything bad going on at all, so don't assume the worst. It also sends a message of distrust to your wife, who just gave birth to your child. Do you really want to start parenthood off on that note? Drop the paranoia and enjoy your new family. And from now on when someone, anyone drops by to see you, be polite and greet them. It's the least you can do and it shows class on your part.

I think he was just being nice, especially if this was your first child, It sounds like he is a good boss, just because he gave her flowers and one hundred dollars does not mean anything is going on, now if he kissed her or said anything out of the ordinary then you may have something to worry about. Why didn't you come out and say hi?

People can feel a little awkward about what to do the right thing socially. Maybe he just thought you guys would need the money with the added expenses of the baby. Your wife didn't try to hide this from you, that's a good thing. I wouldn't worry about it.

What are you talking about? For heaven's sake! The money was tacky, but roses are a common gift to a new mother. My father buys them for new mothers he knows. The money might have been to start a baby bank account, which some people still think is a thoughtful gift.

Could you hear their conversation? Did it sound out of line? What did he say the money was for? The baby? HER? ...Sometimes people are just nice to women that have just had babies....but I guess it could be something fishy. keep your ears open and your mouth closed for the time being. By the way....who does the baby look like? (just wondering)

The flowers were nice, (not sure if red roses were needed) most people give flowers when someone has a child, and maybe the money was just something to help you get something for the child. people do that too. i wouldn't read too much into it. i think it was just something nice that he wanted to do.
