If your gonna do anything, you should have it done all the way. Drained and the filter changed. If they flush it all of the old fluid does not get exchanged with new fluid. But, when they drain it and change the filter, all the old fluid is removed and replaced with fresh. It's just like changing your oil. If you didn't get the filter changed- changing your oil does no good. Because there is always a fair amount of residual "old" oil inside the silter. It won't come out unless it's replaced.

It depends.
If you haven't changed it before, be careful changing it or it might start leaking, as some of the sludge will be sealing the seals.
If you have done it relatively recently, either will probably do the trick. The flushing backflushes the filter, though eventually the filter will need to be changed. Draining it will leave some transmission fluid in the transmission.

First get the trans, fluid changed with a new filter. When they do this they clean trash out of the transmission oil pan and add a new filter. The other way the filter doesn't get changed and the trash doesn't get cleaned. If you feel you can spend the money after the new fluid and filter drive 1,000 - 5,000 miles then, get the system flushed. That's the proper sequence.

With that kind of mileage you should have it flushed with a filter change if your gonna have it flushed.Always change your filter when changing your fluids. Flushing will not hurt your transmission,it will help it in the long run to be as clean as possible. Many people think it hurts it this is not true..

Get the trans fluid changed and have a new filter kit and pan gasket replaced. They have to flush the old fluid out anyway. You may also want to add a trans conditioner for the l' tranny. It is an additive that will help the new fluid work well with your old trans.A product called 'Slick Fifty' sells this kind of additive for older transmissions. And for your engine. There are also specially blended oils for engines with high mileage.

Take your car to a repeatable transmission shop have it changed w/ new filter. Ask about a guarantee and or warranty. A flush doesn't clean the filter.

i own a repair shop ,and if it its working good right now i sure wouldn't have it flushed,it will give problems if you do, i guarantee it,id just have the fluid and filter changed and that's it,that thing has made it that far,i sure wouldn't risk flushing it out,i have seen several go out shortly that wasn't giving any problems at all before they was flushed out,so i really don't suggest you have this part done, just have the fluid and filter changed, and it will do fine, good luck,i hope this helps.
